A Legacy of Aquaculture

Shell fishing, specifically oystering, dates back to the mid 1600s on Long Island, really taking hold in the late 1800s. The industry has surged in recent years - especially on the east end. Thanks to some dedicated and hard-working oyster farmers, aquaculture continues to be part of our strong maritime heritage.
